Asteroid Day is a global awareness campaign where people from around the world come together to learn about asteroids, the impact hazard they may pose, and what we can do to protect our planet, families, communities, and future generations from future asteroid impacts. Asteroid Day is held each year on the anniversary of the largest impact in recent history, the 1908 Tunguska event in Siberia.
For Asteroid Day we have selected 2 Near Earth Asteroids (NEOs) which we need your help in studying. Each of these asteroids have strayed out of the main Asteroid Belt, between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter which is why one reason we find them so interesting.
Check each asteroid's page to see a timelapse video of the asteroid moving through space. This video is updated as soon as new images are observed by Las Cumbres Observatory. This where we need your help!
Just enter your email address on each asteroid page and you will trigger observations on Las Cumbres Observatory, a global network of robotic telescopes, used by professional astronomers from across the World.
